The automobile museum of la Sarthe

To create an automobile museum to revisit the XXth century, while exposing the models of the western Automobile Club, that was the idea of the Conseil général of the Sarthe! The project had to show a workshop for restoring cars, while evoking the Le Mans 24 hours racing, during the last century. We imagined an area with a cover like an airplane wing. This metallic architecture captures the technique, the finishing and the purety of aerodynamic research specific to racing cars. A space with steps and a gallery for the public were included. Our intervention combines also a monumental entrancy and a belvedere on the racing circuit.
